Josh is a solicitor in our Projects, Energy and Infrastructure team in Perth.

Josh’s core practice involves advising on structuring, negotiating, documenting and implementing a broad range of transactions, including in relation to technology and IT procurement, intellectual property and licensing, commercialisation contracts, and major services arrangements (including in respect of outsourcing projects). Josh also advises in relation to data protection and privacy compliance.

Background

Josh graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Laws (with distinction) and Bachelor of Business (International Business).  

Josh is involved in a number of the firm’s community initiatives and pro bono projects (including advising the Aboriginal Art Centre Hub Western Australia, Anglicare WA, Community Arts Network, Foodbank, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Ronald McDonald House and the Plastic Free Foundation). He has served on the Western Australian Football Commission’s Community Football Tribunal since 2022.

Selected matters

  • Advising the Western Australian Land Information Authority on the contracting arrangements for a project to replace its current land valuation system with an AI-assisted cloud-based solution
  • Advising Mitsui E&P Australia and its 50 per cent joint venture partner, Beach Energy, in connection with the licensing and data security implications of the voluntary administration of Clough, the contractor responsible for the construction of the joint venture’s Waitsia Stage 2 gas project
  • Advising a number of clients in relation to the commercialisation of  emerging technologies (including in the energy, agricultural and ammunitions industries)
  • Advising a number of clients in relation to compliance with the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 (Cth), Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and APRA prudential standards relating to information security and outsourcing
  • Advising the Rottnest Island Authority in relation to the ongoing administration of, and amendments to, its utilities and support services contract
